colt h bar upper reciever seating problems

i have an OLD colt Hbar upper. i cannot for the life of me find a lower that will seat properly for it. the front pins are off by several milimeters.

anyone have any ideas?
i know i can always just get another upper.. which is exactly what i did, i just would like to salvage said upper. we have had it for almost 20 years and the closest issue i can find is that it was made for 5.56 and a .223 lower is smaller?
anyone have any other thoughts?

There are offset adaptor pins available for these that should let you use your upper and lower together: you need to measure the hole diameters in each, and use one of the following adaptor pins from Brownells:
