Shot it today. .22 WMR sure makes a big muzzle blast! Shoots great. It is my first cowboy pistol. This one was before the dual-cylinder offering, I believe.

I am going to have to pick up and compare a few full size SAA's to, uh... Just check them out. I don't have to have one... Now that I've tasted this starter-drug!

My wife reads about past-life experiences... I never thought much about it, but when I load and unload this pistol I get a strange feeling that I have done it many times before.

Those were not bad guns, but they were made to a price to compete with the Ruger Single Six. The main drawbacks were a cheapened lockwork (the cylinder bolt and other parts were made of stamped steel) and the alloy frame (Ruger's was steel at that point). Still, the Colt Scouts gave good service, although the .22 Magnums didn't hold up all that well. Colt solved both problems in the later Peacemaker .22 and New Frontier .22.

Meet Lucille.

lucille-lr.jpg

Back in 1965, Dad won this off of my cousin in a poker game,,,
He gave it to my mom instead of his gun loving son.

I can't tell you how many thousands of rounds have gone through her,,,
Lucille has survived me and both of my younger brothers,,,
It was the carrot to get us to do our chores.

If we got our work done without mom having to hound us,,,
We could shoot Lucille off of the back porch.

We probably went through a brick a month for 6-7 years time.

I might have this buried with me.
