Colt Diamondback Question

Anyone know how I can research the serial number of a Colt Diamondback? Its a .38 Spl. with a 2.5 inch barrel. Thanks DB

Here's a link to a site with serial numbers that go up to 1978:

I have numbers up through 1985.
If you post your serial as "A123XX" I can date it for you.

For numbers after 1985, you can call Colt and they will give you a production date over the phone.

The s/n is R26xxx.

Edit the last post

Never, ever leave a full serial number posted on the internet for Everybody to see. Leave out the last three or four digits and fill with approriate number of 'X's.

R26xxx was made in 1978.

The numbers that year started at R13901.
The "R" series ended later in 1978, but records don't show what the last number was.

1980 started off with the "S" series.
