2 1/2" barrell, bluded, with pearl grips. Great condition. What's it worth? Thanks. P.S. Serial # D81103

What's "great" condition? Original box? Not original factory stocks... probably around $1000. But more info is needed. I wouldn't pay that for it however even if it was 99% with those grips. Factory stocks will run you approaching $200.

So,the mother of pearl grips are not factory? No wear any where on the bluing. No box or paper work. First colt I've had. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

You said it was a 2-1/2" version which will add some. The 4" version in the real world with original grips is going to be around 800-900. I think you are looking at around 1000.00 if it is as you say. :)

Yep, the grips are aftermarket MOTS (Mother of Toilet Seat :p ).

I loved those D-Backs, though - the same finish as a much more expensive blued Python.

2.5" Colt Diamondbacks sell very easily and prices are generally higher than the 4" variation. The snubbies are popular and desireable. You can find replacement service stocks for the Diamondback. But if I were the seller, I would sell it as-is and let the buyer find the replacement stocks.

Colt began production with the 2.5" and 4" Diamondbacks in 1966 and later produced them in a 6" barrel beginning in the late 1970's (78-79) until production stopped in 1986.

There is nothing wrong with those grips. They just aren't original. I suspect that they are Jay Scott grips that Colt pushed back in the day.
