Picked up a Det.Spl saturday,I was looking at two,in different shops one was an old nickel one in good shape and the other was a blue shrouded rod newer model in mint condition, bought the blue'd one for $250.00 he was asking $285.00, I think the price was good?? can any of you guys tell me when it was made? ser.# is H466xx. It has a very nice deep blue finish with rosewood checkered grips, took it to the range,it is a nice shooter, trigger is very smooth and clean, shot 3 diff. types/weights of ammo and they all shot about the same very tight groups 1-in left and 1-1/2-in. high, thought this was kind of odd,no matter how I changed my grip the groups stayed the same, the stock grips feel nice but I think boot grips would fit my hand better and maybe bring shots to P.O.I.

Pocketman,
Congratulations on your latest acquisition. I, too had a gorgeous blued detective special like yours and mine shot high and left, although moreso than yours. I sold it, sadly, because I couldn't get it to print to POA with any bullet weight by any manufacturer. It had the nicest and lightest double action stroke of any revolver I've ever owned. Your price sounds good- examples around me are selling for $299-$350 LNIB. I can't help you with your date of manufacture query, only to say that it sounds like you have a nice gun there. Have fun!

The Detective Special shared serial numbers with the Police Positive Special; your gun was made in 1975.

Thanks.. WOW JIM, 1975??!!looks like like it will be a keeper...the gun is so mint it hardly had a ring around the cylinder.
