Could someone out there give me a ballpark estimate on what a Colt Detective Special, blued, any response would be welcome.

A lot depends on age and condition. A Pre-WWII gun, in new condition will bring around $700. In "average cop condition" (carried a lot, shot little, about $300. In 10%, around $150.

For a post-war gun, tops is about $400, down to $100, average probably around $200.

In my neck of the woods a decent DS will run about $300 - $350. Of course this is hardcore S&W revolver country and Colt revolvers don't show up that often. So they get a bit more money.

TFL's official "Curmudgeon Member" and damned proud of it!

picked up one like new at a show from a woman who said she wanted something "a little smaller" for $250!
average is $2-350 depending on condition
imho
this is one very underated revolver. is it just the one i have or do all the det.spec. triggers feel this smooth?

I have a 70s era DS in nickle with the nice wooden grips of that time period. I paid $325 for it 7 years ago in Alaaaabaaamaa. It was in like new condition. Yes it has a very good trigger and is very accurate for a snubnose.

I also have a 70's era DS. Paid $190. in good
condition. Shows a little holster wear around the end of the barrel. It is a good shooter glad to have it :)

Bought my D.S. new in 1975 for $97 with tax. Still have the receipt somewhere. Reblued it a couple of years ago and still carry it. I will never sell it. :)

There are three NIB Colt DS at Etown Gun, all
for $ 349 each. It seems steep to me but they are mint! I guess if I had $350 burning a hole in my pocket I would add one to my modest Colt collection.......Mike
