Just bought a Colt Detective Special 38 special
Is it OK for very limited use of 38 +P in this?
SN M196xx
Anyone have an ideal how old it is?
It’s like new, just faint holster wear on opposite sides of the cylinder.

If it's a post-1972 model with the heavy shrouded barrel, it was rated for 3000 rounds of +P. It was then to be sent back to Colt for an inspection and possible frame replacement.

Thanks for the reply.
I just want to keep it loaded with 158 +P and fire a few rounds to get used to it. I want ever have to worry about sending it in.

Blued model Colt DS

In about 1972-73 Colt made a "limited run" of their DS,
with each gun produced having fancy wood grip's and
a red ramp front sight. Serail number's were preceeded
with an "MO" lettering; as mine was MO82XX. I do not
have any idea as to the extact number of guns that
were produced in this run?
