Colt Delta Elite [10mm] vs. H&K compact usp [357sig].

I am looking at buying another handgun and narrowed the choices to these two weapons.

I found a Delta elite for 600.00 & the H&K for 750.00. I hqve already owned an H&K in 45acp and really liked that weapon. But i sold it and bought my Glock M-20 [10mm} and love that caliber!

Any suggestions??? [besides buying them both.. :)] What would your choice be and why? Any thoughts or suggestions would be vunderbar! This weapon will be primary concealed carry weapon. I have been carrying my Para P-14 "limited" for ccw and big framed weapons are no problem. Thanks in advance..... :)

Greetings, Both weapons that you mentioned are clear cut winner's. For reliability,
durability, and just down right enjoyment
go with the H&K. For shooting, and somewhat
of a conversation piece; go with the Colt
Delta Elite. Probably, fewer Delta
Elite's are in circulation? :D

You should be able to handle heavier loads in the D.E. than the M20; I'd get the Colt.

You didn't indicate the condition of the Delta Elite. I bought one in stainless last year for $500 and but for one idiot mark on it, it's in fine condition. H&K's have a good reputation but I personally have an aversion for poly's and a love affair with my Delta Elite and the 10mm caliber so my vote is for the Colt. If you decide to get the H&K, please let us know some more info on the Delta and who's selling it..........Dan in GA

I would go for the Delta Elite, tho 600 seems a little high in price. I found one for 400 last year.

I am very happy with my Delta Elite. The one I got is very accurate.

I have heard nothing but bad things about H&Ks customer service. If you are going to sell plastic guns you ought to support them like Glock does!

$750 is too much to pay for the USP. According to HK's 1/1/2000 price list, the suggested retail price is $719. $550 is more like it.

As a Colt victim, I'd not recommend the DE unless you really look it over. Many are badly made and finished (depending on whether or not they were made on Monday or Friday, or the days in between, when the workers might have been sober).

I saw one that was so badly made and the flats so wavy from where it was run against the sander for the final finish that you might have become seasick.

Not to flame anyone here, but WeShoot2, what the heck are you talking about?! The Delta Elite can handle heavier loads than the Glock 20? Not hardly! Lest we not forget, the DE and the $&W 10 series were the ones with the frames fracturing due to too much pressure from the 10mm loads. Glocks have never had that problem due to the fact that their frames are plastic and they flex with the pressure. If you want an injury go with a Colt or $&W 10mm auto!

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

After much effort, I disagree!

My only refund was for 'hot' 10mm in a M20.....

My next 10mm will be a Witness.

I bought a NIB Delta last year, and am very pleased with it. The trigger is good, fit is decent, and the finish is beautiful. I've put only 400 rounds through it to date, with no malfunctions. Is the $600 Delta new? That's a very good price, from what I've seen in the auctions, etc. I paid $700, which I thought was high at the time, but seems reasonable now.

Claemore, can you please point me to the reference(s) which show problems with the *&* 10mm. AFAIK, it and the Glock are the ONLY ones that CAN endure a stead diet of the robust 10mm. My Smith gave me no difficulty in the several thousand rounds that I owned it. VL

Regardless of the brand, I don't want to shoot hundreds or thousands of rounds of "full house" ammo in any pistol. That's why I reload, from 9mm on up to .44 Maggie.

I love the fit and feel of the Government Model over any other semi-auto pistol. You name it; I've probably shot it. I just keep coming back to "what feels good" in my hand.

I tweaked my Delta Elite's trigger and feed-ramp; put the Colt beavertail grip safety on it. I've shot everything from squibs (using a single, light spring) to full house case-bulgers.

One thing for sure: Max loads slam steel targets around much more than 230-grain hardball from one of my .45ACPs.

Great Social Gun!

I've got the dies and all but have never shot more than a few hundred rounds of reloads through this DE

but I have run 6 or 8 500 round cartons of the Norma 200 gr. TC loads through it. The pistol is holding up very well and the only fault it has is that it will hide brass on a gym floor! I don't know if the Norma is hot or not but it has to be the cleanest load that I have ever seen. BTW I like the 1911 myself!
