Colt Defender

Handled a new Colt Defender (blued version) at my Sportsman's Warehouse today in 45 ACP. Felt real good, had trouble walking out without buying it. I'll probably go back. Anyone else have one? How's the recoil? I already have two 1911 45 ACPs (Springfield V16 and a Pro), I'm sure the Defender will have a bunch more but how is it? One of my son's has a G36, it's kind of snappy, is it like that? What OWB holster do you use? So many questions, sorry ...

I have a older Defender from 2005 . Mine has never had a problem of any kind. I replaced the terrible grips. I saw a new Defender in case this week and see factory finely got the idea also.

Recoil not to bad even with +P My youngest daughter started shooting it at 18 and wants it for her self.
My concern has always been loss of FPS and FT LBS . Do to shorter barrel . I believe FPS will be in 750FPS range So I carry lighter bullet 200 gr in +P

I carry mine IWB at about 8:30 in a UBG holster.

This is a 1999 had NP3 coated, custom recoil assembly, lower ejection port, tune ejector, etc....

I love it.

I have one that's a few years old. I like it and it functions very well for me. Though I did a side by side shoot off between the Defender and a Glock 30. Let me preface this by saying I'm a HUGE 1911 fan so I expected to like the Defender more then the G30. I was surprised to find that the G30 was softer shooting with 230gr FMJ ammo, which made follow up shots easier. While I liked the Defender, it was jumpier in my hand then the G30.

They are approximately the same size with the Defender being slightly thinner. But, I carry the Defender and not the G30. Like I said, I'm a huge 1911 fan! ;)

I carry using a White Hat IWB holster in the 4 o'clock position
