Pretty easy 1911's there is a tool for the Defender 3" called the ultra takedown tool. Not really necessary though. How do you like the Defender? Just ordered the New Agent w/ crimson grips 45 acp, its a deep cover piece, no sights, just point & shoot. Very similar to the Defender. Let me know how it shoots. Chris
