Ok I been carrying a sig nickel 40 cal for a long time I hurt my back and now it hurts to carry it so I been carrying my colt defender for a month and my Glock 30 for a month I shot them all very well would you start carrying a lighter gun with less rounds to be comfy or carry a 14 round 40 cal and stay in pain just to be safe. Thank you input would be appreciated .

I have been carrying for 45+ years, started with a S&W Chief mod.36 2" 38 snub. that I still carry, 5 rounds. A carry weapon should seem like a pen in your chest pocket. You have to get the right holster, carry it the same way 90% of the time. If the firearm is to heavy it will feel like you have a 10 lb. Weight strapped to you. I just recently bought on line from gunbroker a Colt New Agent with crimson trace laser grips 45ACP. Light weight 7 shots, just a down & dirty carry gun. There when you need it, not something causing you pain, or it will wind up at home. Remember , never take a knife to a gunfight. Be Safe, hope I helped in some way.

I would not have a problem carrying the Colt or Glock you mentioned as a primary weapon. I am a big fan of having a quality holster to properly carry a weapon but in the end if its just not doable then change over to something that works. The weapons you listed are still good weapons and will fill the role, just be sure to practice and be confident with the guns. If it hurts to carry a gun then one day you will stop carrying it due to the pain, adapting to work around the problem is the best idea.

If the Sig is uncomfortable to carry I'd have no problem carrying a gun with lower capacity. I also much prefer any 45 to a 40. Hate that round.

Not exactly the same but at one time I was looking at a Glock 36 versus a Colt Defender and decided on the Defender. The third pistol on the bottom is an AMT backup in 45ACP and was never a real consideration.

I did carry the Defender for a couple years but then switched to a Commander. Since 2013 have been carrying a Colt/Talo Clapp Commander. Have been sniffing the Clapp CCO but have not made a decision yet.

The Glock 30 is an excellent gun. (never thought I would say that). My early Colt Defender was a jammamatic and I could not depend on it. I would choose the Glock 30 without hesitation. I've heard the newer Defenders are pretty good guns but I have no experience with them.

One of the things I am wrestling with is my NEED for a 1911 10MM. And every time I get close to buying one I try to figure out why it would be better suited to my needs than my G29.

I have not actually bought one yet because I cannot come up with a reasonable answer

If you remove feelings for things like nostalgia, tradition, aesthetic beauty, and a sense of history, then the Glock 30S is the logical choice over the Colt in my opinion.

Much as I love 1911's and own several. Including an Officers sized gun that has never not gone bang in 1600 rounds. I would say Glock. When things go bad some of the simple is good. Pull, point, shoot.
One of the reasons the Marine Raiders are using the G19 instead of those beautiful Colts is they said under stress they said their was sometimes a problem with the grip safety or thumb safety. Lots of Texas Rangers pinned their grip safety's on their 1911's so they wouldn't have to worry about it. Yeah I know the newer ones have the bigger grip safety's. But more rounds, simpler design, less to go wrong is good to me. Of course JMHO.

For the size of the Glock 30 it's very, very soft shooting. 10+1 out of that relatively small package is dang impressive and I love how it handles. It's almost exactly the size of a G19 which IMO is the perfect size for a handgun.

I enjoy mine immensely, it provides a lot of comfort and handles well both IWB and OWB (doubt it's great AIWB, but never tried it). I am a large man so micro guns much smaller than the 19 are a bit much for me, the 26 is as low as I can go and still get a decent grip.
