Colt Defender compare to Sig 245

How does the muzzle flip of a Defender compare to a Sig 245?

I had a Sig 245 that I traded in because of it's muzzle flip.
I was looking a a Colt Defender and liked it a lot but I want to know if it is comfortable to shoot.

Anybody got a Defender?
How does it shoot.

If I shouldn't get a Defender then what 1911 of a simular size should I get?

I've got a Defender and have shot a P245. Although I didn't shoot them side-by-side with the exact same ammo to be able to accurately compare them, I thought the P245 shot rather soft for such a small piece. On the other hand, my Defender has quite a bark to it although most everything shot through it is warmer factory HPs I carry in it for defense.

Both were very accurate. Each person has a different opinion of felt recoil so you just need to find a Defender to shoot and try before you buy. Kimber makes a model that compares in size to the Defender and may be easier to find.

Shoot Both First

Initially the Defender had an all stainless version, then went to an aluminum alloy-stainless combo on the later versions. I have shot the all stainless version, and personally thought the recoil more than manageable; however, my brother, who typically considers recoil similar to myself, thought the recoil of the aluminum alloy frame version to be unacceptable.

In short, be sure to try it yourself first if at all possible. :D
