Colt DA 38

Good evening,
This is my first post and I am new to the forum. Without going into too much back-story, I have a Colt DA 38. I believe it was manufactured in 1899 (according to the serial #122847. It has numbers stamped on various parts of it, not sure what those mean? Overall, it's not in the best condition.

Can anyone offer anymore about this gun?

I am trying to determine if I should try and restore it? As far as I can tell, all I know of that it is missing is the ejector rod head.
I don't know that there is much I could do to it to increase it's value? As you can see, it is quite warn, the grips are very warn and one of them has been chipped on the bottom. Should I look for new grips to put on it?

I guess it potentially comes down to what I want to do with the gun? At this point, I am thinking it would be a cool desk accessory, displayed in a shadow box.

I would like to clean it up as much as possible. Most of the nickel-plating has come off. I don't know that there is much that can be done to help the lettering be more legible.

Overall, any advice?

Thanks in advance!
