I have a colt cowboy revolver in .45 colt. I bought it new a couple of yrs ago and have shot it only once. With the extractor removed I can turn the bbl an additional 1/8 turn before it is even finger tight. How did colt ever let this thing leave the factory.
What can I do now? I have had it a couple of yrs, would colt still honor the warranty?

Colt will most probably fix the problem under warranty, but call them first and explain the problem. They will give you all the details on returning the pistol.

I hear ya, there is a lot of amature smithing done to single actions. :( This particular gun was special ordered from my ffl dealer and was nib. It took almost a yr before it came. I suspect the factory was in a big hurry to get the back log out and were rushing or working a lot of overtime and tired or both. I know human error happens in all jobs including gun assambly. I was just frustrated and discusted at haveing to deal with the defect after the a the trouble ($$$) and time it took to get it. This is why It sat so long before I tried to deal with it. I will get a hold of Colt and let you all know what they do.

I got a letter from colt saying they would fix the defect at no charge :D . So far, so good. I hope the gun comes back in acceptable condition and function. I have heard a lot of horror stories of multiple attempts to get a gun fixed. I went threw it with a sigma  . I wonder If they will be able to fix the bbl or they will have to use a new one with the shoulder not cut as far back?

I got the revolver back from Colt. It seems to work fine. Colt did fix it at no charge so I guess that is the most I can ask for. The non adj sights are new to me. I am haveing to adj poi by different bullet wt and charge changes. At least the bullet goes down range without the bbl following.
