Colt Cowboy Mod

I have a "fairly new" COWBOY model Colt in my shop with a bad "transfer bar lifter" (not correct name, I know). Very badly worn piece of sheet metal. I have another trigger on order from Colt.

But, the owner said he had seen an article in a mag (GUNS OF THE OLD WEST ?) about removing the transfer bar, trigger, hammer, all firing pin parts, and installing a 2ed Gen hammer and trigger. Does anyone have any info on this?

Thanks,
Mike Foy

While it may be possible, since the Cowboy is a Colt SAA, it would not be advisably legally. Since the revolver came from the factory with the transfer bar sytem, removing it would put you in a postion to be sued if the customer - and more likely someone they might sell it to - is hurt while using the pistol, even if the injury is not directly caused by the modification. I would wait for the repair parts.
