A friend received a pistol and am not sure what it is, but it looks kinda like a John Wayne Presentation 45. Except it has two cylinders, one blue one gold. The ejector housing and rod are gold plated, the back strap and trigger and guard are gold plated. It has John Wayne on the back strap. The blue cyl has a picture of John and a rearing horse, on the right loading gate is a star, on the left is a pistol and holster, on top is colt's PTFA MFG, co, Hartford CT. USA, The barrel and frame are blue, the barrel has the eagle with John Wayne on it, Ivory grips. Any ideas what it is. when was it made, what is it called. Loco Thanks SN SA56790

I don't know.
It's not a standard John Wayne Commemorative as made in 1982.
They made three grades of the John Wayne, but none match that description.

Then there's the 1984 John Wayne "Duke" Frontier, but it's a .22LR.

It sounds like something put out by America Remembers, but all they list is the John Wayne Coach Gun shotgun.

For this one, you may have to contact Cherry's or even go direct to Colt.

Colt made so MANY commemoratives for any number of distributors and groups that it's hard to know just what they made and for who.
