Colt collectors?

I am an avid fan of the .45 ACP (have two) but I came across this, and since I'm a sucker for anything with a Colt emblem on it I picked it up at what I thought was a good price.

It's a model .38 Official Police and from the serial, built in late 1929. Problem is there are no markings on it to indicate where it was issued. By that I mean the lanyard ring wasn't put on commercial models from what I understand. Any information would certainly be helpful.

Two facts:
1. Colt would put a lanyard ring on any Colt revolver upon request.

2. MOST police department issued guns had no department markings on the guns at all.
