Colt Cobra Refinish

I have a mid-70's Colt Cobra with a pretty worn nickel finish. The company quoted me a bout $200 to get it re-nickeled. Does anyone know of some options? I would strongly consider hard chrome, but I would imagine that could be a complicated process on a revolver with so many small pieces. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

one thing I would remind you of, is the alloy frame. I have been told that without great prep and attention to detail plating or re anodizing alloy is difficult. I too have cobra's , and have found many people who don't want to do it for that reason. I imagine that any of the big time (full time) refinishing specialists could do the job right. I would just stay away from the guy on the corner.

Refinishers charge a flat rate for most handguns, regardless of the amount or size of parts.
Most refinishers would hard chrome plate the steel parts, and just beadblast the aluminum frame.

Other options are the newer polymer baked-on finishes.

I'd recommending taking a look at the back pages of The American Handgunner magazine. Some of the top refinishers advertise there. Get online or order a catalog, and take your pick.
