Colt C.C.O. Question

I bought one new in the box last week, never saw one before, had to have it! It sat in the dealers case for 3 years!

I have a simple question having never seen one of these before.
Is this a "Custom Shop" gun, or regular production?

Thanks for the quick response, I found an article in a 1998 Concealed Carry Handguns magazine on the gun. The reason I never throw a gun magazine away!

Were they made in `98 only and does anyone know how many were made?

There were actually two CCO pistols. The earlier one had the blue aluminum alloy frame, and a standard recoil spring and plug setup. The later was part of the XS series (I think that was the designation). This one had several changes, including (IIRC) a full-length recoil spring guide, front cocking serrations on the slide, a different frame (can't remember if it was just a different finish, or if it was steel).

I have no experience with the second version, but I have a lot of rounds throught the first version, and I'm very fond of it. As far as I am concerned it is about an ideal a concealed carry pistol as I can imagine.
