COLT BUYING H&K BY END OF THIS MONTH !

Gawd. To think that a noble company like HK should also be dragged into the mud, too. This especially hurts, because HK still has some innovation and quality left, while with Colt, you sort of felt like their spark had about died when they turned to the dark side.

Well, it's used or no HK for me, now. I'll not see a dime go to Colt as they present themselves today, with their owners' politics.

Colt Holdings and H&K signed the letter of intent a month ago. Still remains to be seen if Zilkha can raise the $100 million needed. BAE will retain all liability until the time the sale is completed. I doubt that you will see much difference in the way H&K is operated. After all, it does not have union labor (yet), they have never gone bankrupt (yet), and they have always been profitable (for now). You can't say any of this about Colt Manufacturing.

Jeff,

I think you'll see ONE major change immediately: H&K will stop selling handguns to civilians. Zilkha has already said as much.

Seems like the anti's are willing to part with their gold to have their way. Can us pro's say the same?

Why would he do it with H&K and not with Colt? I spoke with the guys at H&K and as far as they knew IF the deal goes through it would be business as usual. Zilkha was only trying to buy it to make Colt more valuable so he can sell off both companies.

I was just down at my HK dealer this afternoon and he said that the company reps told him that the sale wasn't goint to go through. The article referenced in the first post of this page doesn't give any information beyond what was in the WSJ last month.

From Firearms Business 02/02/00

Col't manufacturing company continues to pursue German manufacture Heckler & Koch. Sources believe the $100 million price tag is more than
Col's can afford.
Confusing? Colt's closed the acquition of Saco about a year ago, reportedly planned to make the central unit a part of a combined Colt-HK. Col't has listed Saco with a New York Investment bank which is qualifing prospective buyers. They paid $15 million for Saco

From what Ive heard H&K is a threat to Colt's military contracts. I agree with that, but my guess is Colt will take H&K handguns off the market to appease the antis. I still believe yanking semi auto handguns was a attempt at getting away from the lawsuits.

Colt has not stopped making handguns for the civilian market. They are currently in production and filling a HUGE backlog of orders as quickly as possible. They will not be caught up for months.

I just picked up a new HK Compact 45 this saturday... There's all kinds of aftermarket parts and spares for the Glocks...

Does anybody offer spare parts for HK? I know Jarvis-Custom has spare barrels, but what about other stuff like springs and pins?

Mark
