Colt Artillery Barrel

i have a beautiful Artillery model Colt (serial number 16,884) with a front sight that has been filed at the back to remove the curve, on top to flatten and the sides to narrow. i am looking at an Ainsworth barrel that may match my 85%+ gun but would an Ainsworth barrel be right for this serial number range

Not a direct answer to your question, but I imagine a good gunsmith could replace the front sight blade. That way you will keep the factory barrel and the gun will still be pretty much original.
