Colt Anaconda 4" 45LC

I was at my latest gunshow and found a Colt Anaconda, 4", yes 4", 45LC. The dealer showed me in his gun book that it was one of 6-11 produced. I've hunted and hunted on the internet for anything on it, but nothing.
Does anyone know, have seen or shot one of these?
A buddy of mine uses this site all the time for questions and this group is GREAT. Any help out there on info on this one?

Yes, . . . I used to own a Colt Anaconda, in .44 mag. Now don't jump yet, as .44 mag and .45 LC aren't much more than a hair's width apart in size, recoil, and effectiveness.
I had to trade my Colt off because I have a bad right wrist (right handed) and the recoil (I used it only for hunting, therefore it used only full power loads) was too much for me.
I found that the Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 mag didn't hurt quite as much as the cylinder is mounted higher and makes the piece rotate more in my hand than the Colt, . . . it just came straight back and after half a box of punishment, I had to put it to bed.
My weapon was well made, never gave me any complaints, mechanically; was far more accurate than I was as a shooter, . . . in short was a good gun. I even sometimes wish I still had it, . . . but I'm happy with my Ruger.
May God bless,
Dwight

There's an article about on in (I think) this months Shooting Times. The 4" 45 Colt Anaconda is supposed to be the most rare, I saw a 6" going for $900 at a gunshop last week, a 4" would almost surely go for more. I don't think it's actually worth more since it's basically a big King Cobra, but that's what they're selling for.

They also tend to have very over large chambers and throats in 45 Colt and are often not very accurate. In that article they took a 44 Mag cylinder and rechambered it for 45 Colt and (going from memory) cut the group size in half or better and picked up 100-200 fps with heavy loads.

They look like nice guns, and a lot of people really like theirs, but they're way over priced for what you get compared to a Smith or Ruger IMO.

The 4" .45 colt is the rarest of the Anacondas. I think they were only made a year or two. Expect top dollar when you find one. I have been searching for one for several years now.
Did you buy it? If not do you remember where it's located if you are going to pass on it? Yes I'm a hound dog sniffing the trail. :D

4"Anaconda 45LC

I haven't bought it yet. A local Colt guy that just came out to sell 2 of his 3 cases was at the last local show and had it. I didn't have the $$ for it at the time and told him if I saw him at the next show, I would buy it. I'm more of a collector than a hunter. Just consider myself of one those Colt freaks, mostly the revolvers and the 1911.
I certainly appreciate the threads coming back on this gun. More info than I found online, I assure you. MORE PLEASE!!!...Anyone else>
