Colt Agent 38 Special

Have one of these at the dealers. Looks almost new except some wear in spots from carrying in a holster. What's the going price on one of these. He wants $220, but can probably get him to come down some.

Is it an older model without the enclosed ejector rod?
If so, and the gun is in 95% + condition; then certainly
$220 would be a fantastic price!

$220 for an older Colt Agent is well worth the $. My friend tried to sell his back in the '80s and no one wanted it. Well, nowadays that lightweight gun would command a lot more. Spend the money. You won't regret it.

I did ask myself that question. Guns always rule out over money. Maybe this is why I drive a 20 year old vehicle. I did buy it for $220(no tax) and will post pic once I get through admiring it.

Here's the pistol I've bought. Got to learn to take better pics but you can see it's in excellent condition.

Great find, and a excellent price! However, that IS NOT
the old model Colt Agent that so many of us were
speaking of. The older model does not have the enclosed
ejector rod; as the older models ejector rod extends
forward of the frame without the housing. But, you
did well my friend; I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Love the Agent. If you get the boot style grips for it (mine were from Ajax) it absolutely disappears in a pocket...even jeans. The bottom of the grip barely goes past the bottom of the trigger guard...AND you get six rounds. Great gun.

Hey, Thumper -- -

I've been looking for a set of Boot Grips for my Agent. What brand did you get from Ajax?

I've been quite happy with the Uncle Mike's Boot Grips on my Model 37 S&W, but looks as if I'm going to have to go to wood for the lil' Colt.

The exact same model and vintage in a local shop has a lot more holster wear and a price of $359.95. Looks to me like you found a real bargan. Congrats!

Johnny,

They were wood and they were Ajax. Scrounged 'em out of the back warehouse at the gunstore where I worked while in college.

Waiting on a call from a buddy right now to see if they have any more for you back there. Stuff stays back there for years.

Only thing I didn't like was the whole square butt thing, but I'm no machinist.

Looks like you got a new model with old model grips! I purchased a NIB parkerized Agent for $179 back in the early 90's that came with some horrible grips which I replaced with some Pachmayer Compacs. The gun was extremely accurate but shot about two feet high at 7 yards! I eventually traded it to a friend for a Ruger Speed Six in 38 Special only because he needed it more than I did. Good luck!:)

I guess it could go into my pants, but I hate to have someone say, hey mister, is that a pistol in your pocket or are you just happy to see me.
