Not really a handgun, but handgun caliber!
I have found myself chasing one of these big time this week...falling in love is never easy. I just found out that having this in Hawaii with Hi capicity is LEGAL...well that cinched it...was going to buy an Olympic Arms upper for $500, then thought, well I am 1/2 way to a HK USC carbine...and then it was but a hop, skip and jump to the full Colt Preban! Any thoughts on these? Feedback is appreciated...Is it a great subgun or a poor mans MP5?

Aloha!!

Only two drawbacks (not big ones)to the 9mm Colt. The mag block system and the price of magazines. There is a decent drop in aftermarket mag block system out there and you might want to stock up on some of those SA mags for $25 while they're still available. The Colt mags are around $100 ea.

The Oly system can use a $5-$6 Sten mag with the SOCOM mag block.

I worked out with a Colt subgun last October during a school. I liked it more than the MP 5 since I am more used to the controls and handling. I found it to come up quicker and very easy to control with short bursts, did not get in the way of the movement which was an entry drill. It is an affordable MP 5, when it comes down to it, both are excellent weapons, but the advantage to me is the knowledge of the M16 weapons family, although the same could be said for the MP 5 if one knows the HK weapons systems. In the long run, parts would be cheaper, and you could change calibers easier, it would seem.
