Have a couple of original equipment Colt 8 round mags. Has a shooting star on top of follower. When empty, both of these mags have the follower sometimes extending out straight forward over the mag body making it necessary to push the follower straight backward to start loading. Is this common for these mags?

When I bought my Commander, I got two of the same magazines with it. Both mags ended up doing the same thing as yours. It was just recently that the Commander developed a feed problem, where the 4th round would fail to extract, using standard surplus and standard 230 gr hardball ammo. I'm not certain if it's related, but I'm not taking any chances and plan on replacing them with Wilson Combat or standard GI issue magazines.

I second buying the Wilsons I have a Colt 1991A1 and I bought a brand new Cold 8rd Mag for it and it gave me problems. I took it to my gunsmith and he said he thinks is a design flaw in the follower. He said part of it should be a good bit longer and its not.
