I just bought and love, my first used Colt 1911 series 70 .45 ACP for target use. It has a longer than average barrel with a "weight" on the end. There is no bushing but a plug (when I take it apart, I don't need a wrench). It has been worked on and it's engraved/stamped with "Kabuth custom" on the slide. It has a full length guide rod. I shot 50 rnds of Federal 230gn & 50 Win 180 gn. The 230 elected all over the place with the last case hitting me on the head. With the 180s, they ejected about 1 to 2 inches up, 3 out of the 50 stovepiped. So, is the ejecting scenerio a function of spring tension? Lighter rnds won't push spring as much? When would I need a less than full length guide rod? Lastly, can I use an 8 rnd clip, or do I have to use a 7? This is the tightest shooting gun I've ever shot. The kick isn't what I remember from 35 years ago in the Navy. I love this Colt. Do I need to do anything else to it, or just shoot it. Sorry to be so long winded. Thanks in advance.
