Colt 6920 or Colt 6720 (and $450 more)

Looking for a KISS rifle and want to get a stock Colt. Probably the only thing I might change is the pistol grip and handguards (Magpul MIAD or CAA grip, Magpul MOE handguards). Perhaps someday add a Micro red dot, or just keep things stock irons.

So, I have an opportunity to buy a NIB Colt 6920 rifle locally, face-to-face, for a little over $800 - he's asking $850 and maybe I can get a deal and talk him down to $800.

Or I could order a 6720 for $1200 plus shipping and transfer so I'd be at about $1250

Are we talking maybe 8 ounces difference in weight between the two? I can't seem to find accurate numbers for weight for both models.

Wondering if the extra $450 to save 8-10 ounces of weight is worth it.

IMHO opinion, no it's not worth $450 extra. You probably won't notice the difference in weight. If you get the 6920 for $800, you've got $450 or so to buy your accessories, or a red dot and BUIS. You could just about get another upper to go with it for that money, including a lightweight one.

If you decide the 6920 is too heavy (which I don't think you will), you would be able to sell it for more than the $800 you paid for it. Seems like a no-brainer.

Edited to add: removing the carry handle and just using BUIS would probably save 4 ounces, halfway to a lightweight upper for alot cheaper.

Get the 6920 for 800-850. Iffin it's in good condition thats a fair price.

He said it was new in the box, that's a steal. 

To the OP: You'd be crazy not to pick that up. If you don't buy it, gimme his info and I'll take it!!

To me you're really paying for the name in the end, and that is a pretty decent deal. since you did say you're looking into a KISS rifle (I'm assuming that means you won't be adding anything to it outside of perhaps an optic)

I'd say save up and go for an S&W M&P15, you get just about everything you'd get from a Colt, and it's usually cheaper, but to each his own I suppose.

I'm not familiar with a 6720. Colt come out with something new? Weight differences are 6520=5.8 lbs. 6921=5.65 lbs. 6920=5.95 ibs. 6721=7 lbs.
