Help, my friend and i replaced the recoil
spring in his colt 1911, fired and worked
fine, we then installed a new full length
guide rod. now it will fail to throw out
a round perhaps every 4th shot fired and
at times does not lock back on last round.
Any idea as to why the flgr would do this>?

My guess is that the recoil spring is on backwards.
Or that the flgr is binding on the plug.

Bullet44, try reversing the spring as HS suggested then if that doesn't help clip one coil off of the recoil spring. Chances are that the guide base on the rod is a little thicker than the stock guide. You might even have to clip off 2 but certainly no more than that. Also if you are using a shok buff try it without it. If that turns out to be the culprit get a thinner buff. George
