I find myself wantingto purchase a new handgun, and have been wanting for a long time to get a (Colt 45 SAA 5 1/2 nickel NIB Unfired and unturned). A couple of questions for you pro's in gun buying. (1) What generation would be best to get(one any better than the other)? (2) Where is the best place to get one? And (3) What would be a far market price for one. TIA Greg

Most advanced Colt collectors are telling me that new production SAAs are the finest that Colt has produced since the 2nd generation guns. Except for collecting I would avoid early (70s-80s) SAAs as they are inconsistent in terms of QC. They are spendy, I get up to $2100 for an early third depending on features.

New Nickel SAAs take about 8 months to get, they go fast. last one I had I got $1399 for which is below MSRP.
