Colt 3rd Gen SAA - Worth The Money?

I just happened to come across a Colt SAA in .357 which is in nice shape overall except for a bit of the finish is frosted. It almost looks as if it's chromed, and around the left side of the hammer it's frosted over, as if it wasn't wiped down years ago. I don't know if it could be polished out but I'd even be happy with it as-is since it wouldn't be living in a gunsafe year-round.

Are these worth the $700 or so that the owner's asking? I've always wanted a Colt SAA, 3rd Gen would be perfect as it would be an occasional shooter. I'd leaned towards .45LC as I figured it's more "correct," but this would work for me as I'm such a fan of .38 wadcutters for practice. Oh, it would also come with a nice leather cowboy rig. Any advice?

This is strictly opinion, I'm no expert in SAA's

$700 sounds really good for a pistol in the condition you describe.
Hopefully some enthusiasts will pipe in and offer thier .02

I'd be seriously tempted at that price.

Usually when you find a 3rd Gen. Colt it's well over a grand, even in iffy condition.

I think .357 is a less desirable caliber for those who really lust after the Colt SAAs, but still...

I agree on the caliber being less desirable, although after I thought about it I really think I'd shoot it more as it's a caliber I already use.

Just sold am ANIB 44 Spcl 3rd Gen for 1400.00
This had better than Turnbull quality case colorings. I bought it originally from a collector and Colt writer up in Kansas.

Seems like I'll just HAVE to try and go through with the deal then! Thanks for the inputs, if I get it before the End of TFL I'll post pics, or at least a link to pics.
