Colt 1911 sight replacement

I would like to buy trijicon sights for my Colts, both are series 80 enhanced (Both have flat tops). One is a commander and one is a Delta Elite. Google tells me I need to buy the "wide" (.125") tenon staked sights. Is this correct?

Govt Sight

Commander Sight

If I chose to install these myself, is there a special tool needed to make the rear sight centered other than a brass or nylon drift?

Any advice on sight selection and installation appreciated. I am aware of needing a staking and front sight fixture....

Wide tenon for post-1960 something guns, narrow tenons for older ones.. Fit the rear sight by filing the sight base carefully with a dovetail file (available from Brownells), then drift it in. Should be TIGHT!

Be very careful when staking a front sight with a tritium vial in it, it's easy for the tritium vial to crack.

I prefer to mill a dovetail for the front sight and use a dovetail front sight, there's several dovetail tritium front sights available for 1911 pistols.

If possible it's best to use a sight pusher or small press instead of a drift and hammer when installing sights with tritium vials.

I read about this and would buy a fixture.

I like the idea of being able to do my own work, but am debating on having a smith do it vs my investment cost in the tools. It looks like I should also consider a sight pusher especially if I need to fine adjust windage after installation?
