Just before Christmas, LGS brought in this nice 1917 made Colt 1911. Rare bird here in Switzerland, so much so that he’s keeping it for himself and won’t sell it to me

I will keep pestering him a bit but I have little hope

If it could talk?
"Hey, buddy, find my original magazine, and install the mainspring housing pin from the left side."
That's assuming guns are as interested in being "correct", as are their collectors?

The pistol's in great shape. The owner's a lucky dude.

Just FYI, the only thing I see that's not correct for the pistol is the magazine. That picture shows a Colt type II two-tone mag with lanyard. Those were replaced by the type III mag at or near pistol serial number 128XXX.

The type III is the same as the type II (two-tone), but without the lanyard.

I wish I was at home where I could look up the serial number and see if I could find out some history on that pistol.

I have one made a bit earlier that was shipped on April 18, 1917 from Colt to the C/O Philippine Ordnance Depot, Manila PI.

I was told it is one of 600 (188001 - 188600), shipped 25 Oct 1917 to the Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory.

That would look nice in my collection; I do accept donations. ;)
