Colt 1903 Magazine problem

Just picked my first Colt (.32) Didn't notice until I went to the range for the first time that the magazine doesn't completely latch and thus will not allow the round to be chambered.

Any ideas?
Thanks

1903 Magazine

Do you have an original mag. for the pistol? Body of original will be two colors. If you have it, you will know what I mean. Some aftermarket mags. are crappy.

Is the weapon and meg. clean?

Yes, it's original

Everything seems perfect except the latch misses closing over the heel of the magazine by a tiny fraction of an inch.
Thanks

you could try Triple K for a new mag. Most likely it will need to be tuned, but thats easy enough. you should take a few pics of the situation and post them. It would make a diagnosis easier. Keep this in mind thou. the orig mags are worth half decent coin on ebay. I recently sold a rare magazine to a mauser for more than I paid for the complete pistol. I planned on shooting the gun to death anyway. So aftermarket mags don't hurt my feelings and don't embarrass me either.

Thanks

It's an original mag as far as I can tell. No apparent damage. Just not sure what is happening. I'm definitely in the market for another magazine
thanks

It is not common but sometimes if the pistol is dropped and lands on the butt, the mag catch will be bent in slightly and not properly engage the magazine. Usually a file stroke on the catch will do the job, but it is easy to get in trouble removing the catch, so it might be better to trim the magazine a tad and touch it up with cold blue.

Thank you

I'm tempted to try the suggested fixes, but I am not a mechanic. I believe everyting is functional except that the catch is bent down a micro inch which keeps it from attaching the magazine. My instinct ( a dangerous thing) is to pry up the catch with a screwdriver.

Somebody please tell me to stop thinking like this

Sorry

I went back to the shop today where I bought it. He took in two 1903's from a guy and for some reason switched the magazines on them. It works great now.
I do appreciate the feedback
