This is an 1861 Springfield .58 Caliber 3 band rifle. I bought it new from "Colt Blackpowder Arms Co." in 1999. I has never been fired and has been handles very little. It comes with the sling and bayonet (both options) and I am asking $975.00 If you would like to talk about it you can call me at: (360) 574-8794 Larry

lorenzo - isn't this the reproduction of the Colt "special musket" instead of the 1861 Springfield? These were reproduced as your's was as a tribute to the Colt special musket. They vary from the Springfield in a number of ways - the '61 Springfield has the hump back hammer and the bolster has a clean out screw. The hammer on your Colt model also is different than those used on the "63 and '64 models. Don't get me wrong - I'm not being critical on your description - just pointing out that you should probably advertise this as a Colt special musket - not a '61 Springfield. There are several manufactureres of the '55, '61 and 63/64 Springfield models - the special musket model was originally produced by Colt and several other contractors. Your rifle is a very nice piece and very desirable for someone who wants something a little different and unique. If I was still shooting NSSA, I'd really be interested in it. Try posting it in the classified section on this site. Best of luck to you - it sure is a nice one! Sincerely, bedbug :)
