It appears our state senate is now Democarat controlled. We lost on amend 22, No waiting periods to kill unborn kids, No tax limitations (i.e., Doug Bruce proposal). We pretty much lost big.

So our state appears as liberal as some of the others. Colorado has been Kalifornicated! Keep hoping for Bush/Cheney.

If the Disco Liberals ever, ever, ever ask me to serve this country again.

F#$% - EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll take Levenworth over supporting their dumb A@#es. With a purple heart, I keep asking myself WHY????????????

Was amendment 22 a gun show regulation? I thought I saw something on the news about it but they didn't elaborate.

SK, yes it is. It is supposed to close the mythical "gunshow loophole." What it really will do is pave the way for the next step toward registration/confiscation.

If you look on the Legal and Political Forum, I paraphrase what the champion of this travesty says about the future. These people won't stop.

Guys, does anyone know when Ammendment 22 goes into effect? There's a good show this weekend in Denver. BTW, for the record, I voted against 22 (as I hope you guys did too).

I think that 22 was lost due to a large and ignorant voter turnout. If the folks had understood the entire issue, I'd bet the vote would have been much closer, but most folks don't read the long form of the issues, unfortunately.

It goes into effect March 31, 2001 according to the voter brochure they sent out.

Anyway, sometime in March.

It was inevitable, infortunately. Did any of you hear the radio adds in support of it? Pathetic. Pathetic but persuasive, apparently... :(

The gun show loop hole is the least of our problems, have you read the rest of it?

Guys doesn't this only effect Dealers at a gun show? They just have to do the same thing they would if you were in their shop. Oh the humanity. /sarcasm off

If it applies to private transfers as well then yeah I think it is complete BS.

Yes, it applies to ALL xfers at a gun show. They are supposed to have 1-2 FFL holders on site to perform the checks for private sales. The FFL holder is authorized to charge up to $10 for their service and must maintain a copy of the records.

No funding was set aside for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to facilitate this either.

It includes ALL guns, even black powder. And a gun show by the 22 definition is: 3 or more people in attendance, 25 or more guns. So this could include by law, your home, hunting camp, parking lot, flea markets, etc.

An example: you and the spouse are at home, a friend comes over to buy your extra shotgun or whatever, you would be in violation by not getting a check done.

They are also hot on the trail now to introduce mandatory safe storage among other things.

Just think, the lawyers will have you by the gonads on that one. "if you had time to unlock your safe, then you had time to call 911 or leave your house". I believe self defense will become obsolete in CO.

Oh, man. One unconstitutional law after another.

Good thread for the Legal/Political Forum.
Look there for it.

Is it really all that bad? The way I see it, the law would require an FFL dealer to do the transaction if you buy a firearm from another private individual at a "gunshow". OK, correct me if I am wrong, but if I meet someone selling a particular firearm that I am interested in, and it is agreed that I can look at it again later at a private residence or other area away from the "gunshow" and then decide to buy it, I am no longer in violation because I am not buying it at a "gunshow." The so-called loophole isn't, because you can still purchase a firearm from the newspaper or other type of advertising as long as the BS criteria doesn't exist- Most private firearm transactions that I've seen are usually only two people anyway- I guess you could call it a loophole of the "loophole."
