Colorado CHL Hardball only???

I was told that CO requires hardball in your carry gun; hollowpoints are prohibited.
I am unable to find anything that even remotely addresses this on Packing.org. I also scanned the CO site without any luck.

I am sure there are folks here with a CO CHL. What is the fact?
I also did not notice any prohibition against carrying while in a restaurant that serves alcohol. Is that permitted?

Since NM and CO have reciprocity, and since I travel in CO it is of special interest to me.

Thanks,
Jerry

Might want just ask your friendly LE if it is legal for civilans to use hollow points. I've heard them legally referred to as hollow nose as well. The only state that I am aware of that has statues about hollow points is New Jersey. Civilians are only allowed to carry FMJ in a weopon "on the streets". A permit there is really hard to get so it's probably not a big issue. Hollow points aren't illegal there per se, you can use them in home defense, target shoot, even hunt in some circumstances.

This is the thread.

I was able to find something for this guy about New Jersey but nothing on Colorado. I've heard for many years about the New Jersey hollow point law but never anywhere else.

As a colorado resident i will state that is BS you can carry anything you can get into the pipe so to speak lol from ball to your favorite nuculear tipped canisters of a$$hole repellant

If I wanted to find out what my state's laws say, I'd read the laws myself. Sure wouldn't depend on the opinion of a local l.e.o. for a legal interpretation.

Permits are issued by County Sheriffs, so many sheriff's office websites have the laws available to download. Like here, http://shr.elpasoco.com/ Select "Concealed Handgun Permit", then "Information Packet". The law is included on the last few pages of the pdf file.

I'm no expert, but I see no restrictions on type of ammunition or carrying where alcohol is served, unless that establishment has posted a sign barring weapons on their property. Just don't be "under the influence" while you're carrying. And don't walk on the sidewalk in front of any school. Denver is a different animal than the rest of the state, however.

But don't take my word for it...

There is no law against hollowpoints in Colorado. Obviously, you should be careful about relying on information from online forums, so you might want to look at the actual statutes. The Colorado Revised Statutes are acessable online. The section for Offenses Relating to Firearms and Weapons can be found by going to Title 18, Article 12 ( that is the numbers will be 18-12-XXX and so on).

EFMJ is the solution

For those of you who live in the communist occupied areas where hollowpoints have been outlawed, I direct your attention to Federal's new whizbang self defense load - EFMJ (Expanding Full Metal Jacket).:D :D :D

Thanks, All.

I have emailed the CO AG for official info. I have little doubt that the information from the indivudual is incorrect. However, since it was during instruction for CHL in NM, and a discussion of the reciprocity of other states, I want to make absolutely sure of the legality or illegality of such.
