Color coordination

Looking over my new GP 100, I notice that one of the Ruger employees might be a tad bit color blind. The wood grip on the right side is a dark bright red color (almost looks like redwood), yet the left wood grip is light brown (looks like light oak). Is it so much to ask for a company to use matching colors on the grips?

Anyhow, this is only a cosmetic complaint, one that I can and will fix myself by ordering grips from Lett company.

No.

So why don't you contact Ruger, tell them of the mismatched grips, and ask them to send you a matched set?

Can you HAVE too many grips...? :D

Usually when a pair of grips are made from the same piece of wood, the color match from side to side is pretty close.
But not always.
Sounds like you have a legitimate gripe tho.

Oh, I was going to purchase an aftermarket grip inserts anyway from Lett. The grain of the wood and texture is way off on both panels (neither panel looks remotely like the other), so I'm pretty confident this was NOT made from the same stock of wood. More likely, I think someone at the factory accidently switched grip panels from two different sources. I will probably contact Ruger and have them send me matching original grip insert panels so that I have original GP 100 parts, but as far as what I'll keep on the gun I had intended to buy Letts insert panels anyway. I want to order either black or white Micarta insert panels, cause the factory wood panels (even matching ones like my other GP100 has) look cheap IMO. No loss on my part, as I planned to buy Lett grip panels even before I noticed this. I just was pretty shocked at the lack of attention to detail by the Ruger employees (I've NEVER had them make such an obvious error before).
