im looking at them from http://www.ak-47man.com/SurplusShotgun.html

i live in california and whenever i see something that catches my eye i usually jump on it. i picked up a norinco mak90 around 1994 for $199 and now i dont see them for less than $450. would this piece appreciate in the same way or is the ak action in more demand thus driving up prices?

The Chinese AK prices have gone up because no more are allowed to be imported. The 97 clone prices have gone up because Norinco products were banned from importation for a period of time because they were caught selling weapons to somebody onn the US govt s---list. The prices will go up until they resume importation again, which I'm sure will happen.

I don't know what constitutes a good price for an M-97 clone but my first reaction is say that the prices shown seem high.

I just bought Nork Ithaca 37 clone a couple of months back. It's complete with ghost ring sights, perforated barrel heat shield, side sling swivels, etc. but it was only $139 and $10 shipping from Classic Arms.
