im salvaging a chopped up 03a3. some one has drilled and taped holes in the barrel for a rear site. one of the 2 holes is completly stripped out. if i use jb weld to fill in the holes will the jb weld take on the black oxode finish? if not what to do?

two ways to handle this

My best advise is to use a screw to fill the hole and then file it down level with the barrel's surface if you don't want the hole to be noticed. Then you can refinish the gun and the surface will take the finish.

The second suggestion is to use whatever it is you want to fill the hole with and then use Duracoats to refinish the gun. Either way will work and be very reliable finish.

No chemical finish will color JB Weld.

A good "fix" is to install some dome-head plug screws.
These will give a "finished" look to the barrel, and will look MUCH better than any attempts to hide the holes.

Truth is, most any technique used to fill the holes will be visible, and usually looks like crap.

Since some holes are stripped, just coat the screws with epoxy and turn into the holes. The epoxy will lock them in.

Another option is to buy some standard plug screws.
Epoxy them in place, then file the heads down flush with the barrel.
Color them with standard cold blue.
