Cokie Roberts-- e-mail?

I sent an e-mail recently to ABC Weekend on their website addressed to Cokie Roberts. The gist of it was that her silence on Sunday was surprising when LaPierre accused the president of cynically exploiting violence to push gun control. Roberts herself said last summer that the president and the democrats wanted a campaign issue instead of legislation, after all.

Either Roberts believes this legislation would save lives or she doesn't. If she does, then she made exactly the same accusation that LaPierre made and more than once too. If she doesn't, why won't she herself speak up and challenge the president on legislation she does not think will do any good? Either way, her silence is an example of how "objective" journalism has long since given way to cartoonish editorializing against the NRA or anyone opposed to the Clinton administration on ABC.

Anyway, I don't believe this e-mail will reach anyone except some 21 year-old staffer from Wellesley who adores Roberts, hates guns, and will just hit the delete key when it shows up. (I like Roberts, too, I should say, except for things like this.)

Is there anyone here who knows, or knows how to access, more direct e-mail addresses at ABC?

Thanks.

I'm terribly ashamed of my fascination with C. Roberts. Funny thing-- I was listening to her on N.P.R. for YEARS before I ever saw her on T.V. I've always been furious with her subtle subjective spin on gun control, yet I rush to listen to her say it.

Riddle me that?!

Dunno her email addy. Probably best, don'tcha think? :)

There's no denying that the woman's sharp as a whip about political analysis; she's just basted too long in the juices of liberalism.
Her husband hosts a pretty good talk show on NPR, as well. Again, remember that NPR stands for "National Psocialist Radio."

:)

CGuardian, your logic is dead on, and her Cokieness should be exposed to the light of day. Once on "This Week" I heard her say in a sarcastic tone "Like anyone needs a machine gun to hunt deer with. Puh-lease!"

Several years agoI mailed Ms. Roberts a lengthy paper I had written on firearms control. I received a written response with a real signature. I believe she had read my paper, based on the content of her response. It is easy to think that all media employees are radical liberals. My experience has been that media employees are among the most open to ideas, discussion, etc. They can be convinced by competent presentation of fact and opinion. Unfortunately, many pro-firearms people jump to personal attacks way too quickly. I have seen this in face-to-face discussions, radio and TV call in shows, letters to the editor, etc. We will lose if we try to impose our views on others. We will win if we can put ourselves in their shoes, understand their concerns, and explain why trigger locks, bans, etc. will not effectively respond to their concerns.
