Cobra .38 Special Derringer

I picked up this little beast on a whim at the gun shop I frequent. It it so small and light that I figure I can grab it and drop it in a pocket when there's no time for anything else. I fired it for the first time yesterday. I was able to put a dozen rounds through it before I moved on to another pistol. The positives: It went bang every time. I could hit close to center mass at 10 feet fairly well. The not so positives: The trigger pull was horrendous. The recoil was fairly stout. The second shot takes a fair amount of time and effort to prepare for. Overall, it will do...in a pinch.

I have the same exact weapon. mine is a blue color and it has shot every time. I was surprised it had to be in the halfcock position to have the safety on. if I remember correctly, that is the position needed to reload the weapon as well...

38 ended up being the perfect caliber for mine anyways so I am glad I didn't get the bigger ones.

I am curious which model you got...

I think these pistols probably push the limits of how small a firearm can be...

But the size of the derringers is on average just slightly smaller than a Rohrbaugh R9 - which carries 7 rounds.

The CB38 is 14 oz, 4.65" OA length, for 2 rounds.

The Rohrbaugh R9 is 13.5 ox, 5.2" OA length, and carries 6+1 rounds.

I think the derringers are facsinating, but the exposed trigger has always bugged me.

I have the exact gun. It's a perfect stash gun to have just-in-case...
Also a good answer-the-door gun when you don't know whose knocking during late hours and can slip right into your pocket if it turns out to be a friend at the door ;).
And for approx $100, you can't argue with the price!
I wouldn't carry it on the street, though... Pulling the hammer in a hurry, or in a grappling situation might lead to a mishap.
God bless and stay safe!
