Boba FETT.The only Savage Stevens shotguns side by side that I am aware of that were 18inchers were the 311R made for home defense and law enforcement.Batches of this model were purchased by some police departments and given to their special anti robbery teams,or entry teams. If the gun doesn't say model 311R then it is more likely it is a regular model that has had its' barrel sawn off.If it is a hair under 18inches it has to registered with the BATFE. I have seen many examples of short barreled versions of these at gun shows. These are of dubious nature.I have researched Savage/Stevens shotguns and have never seen a shorty except the above 311R.Maybe I missed something and someone else can fill in the info.I have owned model 67 and 69 pumps and had friends who bought the Stevens models in 311.That was while in Washington state years ago. Most shotguns used for sports have at least 26in. barrrels on them due to better ballistics of the shotload. No wonder you were getting a heck of a roar.Hitting moving targets with that short of a barrel is extremely tough but can be done.Recommend a shotgun with longer barrels if use is for most outdoor sports.I had sterling service from my Stevens and enjoyed shooting them completely. Enjoy.OK is this a model new model 411?If the case disregard most of the above post from me.
