Co-witness red dot optic/3x magnifier set up

I recently acquired a Holosun hs503gu red dot sight for my Smith and Wesson M&P Sport 2 AR-15. I was looking for 3x magnifier, like one made by Vortex. Is full co-witnessing preferable to lower third co-witnessing? Thanks.

I preferred full co-witness when I ran a dot. Most people seem to prefer the lower 1/3. Personal preference I guess.

If you don't have the Red Dot sitting directly on top of the front sight, there's little point in doing it at all, since the only purpose behind "co-witnessing" is to have two independent sources giving you an accurate sight picture.

Otherwise if the electronic sight fails your point of impact will change.

It shouldn't change your POI. You sight in your red dot and iron sights independent of each other. It comes down to rather or not you want that dot sitting on the front sight post or do you want the dot above the front sight post.
I should add that I ran full co-witness with MBUS flip up sights, if I had a fixed front sight post I would have gone with the 1/3.
