United Methodist Church Sponsors Gun Control Debate
e-mail from Ari Armstrong
This Wednesday, October 18, is a debate OPEN TO THE PUBLIC about Amendment 22, the gun control initiative that would expand Brady background checks to private sellers at "gun shows."
Ari Armstrong will represent Rocky Mountain Gun Owners. He will debate a representatives of Sane Alternatives to the Firearms Epidemic (the name of which likens gun ownership to a disease).
St. Andrews United Methodist Church
6325 South University Boulevard
Littleton, CO 80121-2914
(Located on the west side of University Blvd. between Orchard and Arapahoe. Shares a parking lot with Goodson Recreation Center.)
DATE: October 18 (Wednesday)
TIME: 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
NOTE: Seating may be limited, so it may be prudent to arrive early.
A confirmation letter for the event states:
"Our ground rules for the events are that there will be no signs, bullhorns, banners, flags, etc. from the audience.
There will be no video taping, audiotaping, or photographing from the audience, and that any disruptive audience member will be immediately removed from the event.
For the presentation on the gun show loophole initiative [sic], the questions from the audience will be written and passed to the moderator."
Apparently, given the violent tendencies displayed by some members of the Bell Campaign and the Million Mom organization, the event organizers felt they had to keep tight wraps on the proceedings.
So come, write up your polite but insightful questions, and we'll help educate the public about this onerous initiative. The UMC reports it has publicized the event, so we'll likely be covered by the press.
FREEDOM IS NOT A 'LOOPHOLE'!
Note: There is no restriction to protests, banners, bullhorns, etc, outside event.
The UMC has adopted the gun-banning agenda; most of the audience will be antis.
