CMP Mossberg 144 rifles

Does any one here have any experience with these rifles? I'm considering getting a couple of them and just wanted some feedback. What about the magazines, can they be found?

Great sights. Accurate rifle. The trigger guard/finger-groove thingy shattered. It came with no magazine, but you can get one for around $40 from brownells. Good deal on the one I got for the price. Much better than them Romanian guns. Get some glass-bedding and a Remington ADL trigger guard. The ADL guard can be modified (I think, haven't done it) to work and you fill the rest of the channel with glass-bedding.
 
Only the Mossberg 44 are currently available. The 144's are long gone. The 44's are a real bargain. GunParts sometimes has trigger guards, and I have heard of new manufactured reproductions, but not specific source info.
 
Thanks 700. The plastic must have been bad on them. It was the model 44. If you hear about a reproduction guard, I'd love to hear about it.
 
Thanks, Jeff. I'm ordering one tomorrow. I've got three clips, two originals that are rusted and one Brownells. The originals fit and function better.
