Just a heads up, as of 1/3/2012 CMP now has them back in stock. I was going to buy one about 2 years ago when my laptop got stolen and put a damper on most of my projects. They were running $595 at that point. 6-12 months ago they went out of stock. They still don't have the Winchesters but they do have the SA's and H&R's. The price has bumped up to $625 but these are still the best deals on an M1 you'll find, I sent my order in today!

I doubt you'll see any more Winchesters. If they get more in they're likely to restrict them to auction sales only, where they go for crazy dollars.

Cmp requirements?

As a i understand it, a NRA membership doesn't qualify as the "club"membership. I don't know of a club close to me. Is there another way?

^^Edit^^ Beat me to it.

I am pretty sure you can join the Garand Collectors Association for a very small amount and that counts. Before you do that please call the CMP and verify what options you have where you live. I am pretty sure they will help.

Given the last three posts all told you the same thing, I'm pretty sure you can skip the call to verify it counts.

join the garand collector society. its 50 bucks and that qualifies you. I got 6 of them that way

collector
correct
service x3
field

and also a pack of 5 of the 03a3's when they had them and 10,000 rounds of the first batch of good greek 30-06 they got.

I wasn't too impressed with the Service grades...if you were careful (and of course if you live near the North store) you could find Field Grades of similar quality.

I was more impressed with the 2 racks of 1917's that I saw last week..

I did all mine thru mail sight unseen but all of them are very good condition but i also got them when the greek lend lease guns first got released before the good guns got cleared out. the one i ordered last that i didnt even list was a restocked gun that to me is a shooter and thats it.

I did shoot all of them and other than little things like a loose sight on one gun they all shot the same, exceptional.

Service Grade Garands are very ,very nice

Club membership:
Garand Collectors Assoc. is $25.00 per year but only runs from Sept -Sept no matter when you join
The Garand Collectors Club is a better deal and is $14.00 and runs a full year
Both clubs can be joined at the North and South Stores or by mail

Can you still get one of the guys there to hand select one for you? I went and picked mine up myself, but I thought you could get one hand selected for free.
