Dear Fellow TFLers;
I am constantly amazed at just how phenomenal Clinton is at using words to get his point across. I’m also amazed that no one has really taken him or his anti-gun gang to task when they simply throw out phantom figures as gospel. For instance, last night I watched about as much as I could of Clinton’s interview in Colorado before I had to change the channel. As usual, Clinton spouted, “12 children a day are killed by guns”. That means that 4,320 kids die each year or 21,600 in five years! Simply incredible. If this were true, don’t you think the media would be plastering each and every news cast with a “body count” every evening? Of course, the unwashed watching this show simply swallows this whole without even chewing once.
The other point I’d like to make is just how deliberate the anti-gun crowd is at using anecdotal incidents to their advantage. They’ll take a terrible tragedy like Columbine and use it to set a national agenda. If we try to use an anecdotal incident where someone protected someone else using a firearm properly, we are scolded. So, they can use single case scenarios but we can’t. More to the point, we know the statistics weigh heavily in our favor but we simply can’t seem to bring them to the forefront as evidence against feel-good anti-gun laws.
I am thrilled that Congress has finally had the brass to pass legislation, which makes $100 million available to States who will use the money to enforce existing gun laws. It passed with a tremendous margin and now moves to the Senate. The bill, which is named for “Project Exile” will certainly pass the Senate and will definitely make a difference for States who are simply too strapped for money to prosecute the bad guys using guns illegally. Make sure you follow this bill and compliment your politicians if they pass it into law.
I apologize for taking up space at this website to spout off but there are few places gun owners can actually speak up and be heard. TFL is a great site supported by so many well spoken, experienced, and thinking people. Thanks for giving us the forum to stay connected. This is what the Internet is supposed to be!
