In a recent tantrum, Hillary Clinton accused the House of Representatives' attempt to stem the flow of illegal aliens into America a "police state tactic."

In light of the federal slaughter of 88 American citizens at Waco, TX - which happened on her husband's watch - either Clinton accusing anyone of "police state" anything sounds awfully alot like the pot calling the kettle black...

Sen. Clinton Blasts U.S. 'Police State' on Immigration

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a potential White House candidate in 2008, said Wednesday some Republicans are trying to create a "police state" to round up illegal immigrants.

Clinton, D-N.Y., spoke out on the U.S. immigration policy after largely staying away from an issue that has roiled Congress in recent months and spurred a number of conflicting proposals.

Speaking at a rally of Irish immigrants, Clinton criticized a bill the House passed in December that would impose harsher penalties for undocumented workers.

"Don't turn your backs on what made this country great," she said, calling the measure "a rebuke to what America stands for."

The House measure would make unlawful presence in the United States, which is currently a civil offense, a felony.

Clinton said it would be "an unworkable scheme to try to deport 11 million people, which you have to have a police state to try to do."

She called instead for immigration changes "based on strengthening our borders in order to make us safer from the threat of terrorism."

The senator also sent a four-page public letter to constituents outlining her views on immigration. In the letter, she shied away from specifics but said she does support allowing at least some of the estimated 11 million undocumented workers to earn citizenship.

Such changes should include "a path to earned citizenship for those who are here, working hard, paying taxes, respecting the law, and willing to meet a high bar for becoming a citizen," Clinton wrote.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., has offered legislation that would create separate worker programs: One for illegal immigrants already in the country and another for future immigrant workers.

President Bush has argued for a temporary worker program that would allow illegal immigrants to keep their jobs in hotels, restaurants, nurseries, agriculture and other businesses that depend on low-wage laborers.

Neither effort has gained much momentum, partly due to fierce resistance from others within the GOP.

Last week Specter said emotions on the immigration issue are running high and he has seen "virtually no agreement on anything."

There are very few politicians who can claim the high ground on illegal immigration. Especially the current President George "Cmon Over and you can work" Bush. The program could add up to 30-60 million more folks to the U.S. Once they have lived here for years under the guest worker program and it time to go back do you think they will? I know I wouldnt want to leave to go back to my home country.

One thing that really burns me on this issue, is the fact were all forced to pay these crooks to uphold the immigration laws already in place!

Another illustration of how rotten Washington officials are. Sorriest lot of human beings on the planet. Thing is, I expect the likes of Hillary Clinton to say something like that, sacrificing principles and culture just to get votes.

So-called conservatives like Bush and his neo-con allies do the same thing and expect to get conservative votes. It's not just massive and illegal immigration either, it's health care. 10 years ago "conservatives" were opposing Clinton for advocating socialized health care for everyone. NOW Bush is advocating the same thing and getting support from the Rush Limbaughs, the Sean Hannitys, the Ann Coultres, the George Wills the Bill Krystals et al. "No child left behind" another big government policy that 10 years ago was a leftist idea, now conservatives embrace it.

In a nutshell, neither parties are any different, Democrats at least don't kid you about what they believe. At least they admit they are liberal.

The corporate minded republicans are convinced that illegals are are good for business. The democrates think illegals will help them to obtain their social utopian society. Hillary freaked herself out weeks ago when she said we need much tighter boarder control, it just took awhile to set in. I voted for tighter boarder control just before I voted against it!

I find it totally amusing to believe that HRC is against the "Police State". Isn't she the one who was a sponsor to the recently re-enacted Patriot Act provisions which allow the PA to be used for drug offenses? ( I may be wrong on this) I know she is one of those who want to ban all arms from the people.

Anti-police state my arse.
