Using "Mothers Mag &Aluminun" polish on nickel and wondering when is it time to stop, each time i apply a dab. i still get "black" crud, wipe it off, apply more and same crud! Question is, is there a time to stop or just keep applying more Mothers and wiping, will it eventually rub through the nickel or finally leave u with like perfect finish? ( Gun is a 2006 Beretta 85) thanks

Most polishes turn black when used. Its the polish itself, not dirty metal.

STOP POLISHING.
Mother's is usually considered to be too abrasive for bright nickel gun plating.
Keep it up, and you'll do serious damage to the finish. Every time you do this you're putting years and years of wear on the finish, and you'll soon wear it off.
There's no reason to polish nickel unless its tarnished.
You can't polish scratches out without thinning the plating, and all you need to do to keep the plating clean is wipe down with a soft cloth, or an oily patch.

Mother's Polish? - Can we use Never Dull on stainless or Nickel?

I know I can't use the Never Dull on my blued finished guns.
I heard it pulls the bluing right off.
Can Never Dull be used to polish the Nickel or Stainless though?

It work on almost everything else stainless without damaging it, but I'm almost afraid to try since my guns are worth so much, and the value can be reduced pretty quickly
