Cleaning titanium revolver cylinders

Guns with titanium parts are a whole new area to me. Is there anything special about cleaning titanium cylinders? I'm thinking of cleaning tools and chemicals like bronze brushes, the Lewis Lead Remover, and various powder solvents. Has anyone experienced damage to the finish of a titanium cylinder due to cleaning?

TIA.

Yep, what Coinneach said. If anything, Ti is even more resistant to common gun cleaning chemicals, salts, etc. than stainless steel.

Read the manual supplement that came with the revolver, if it's a S&W. There are warnings about cleaning the cylinders with things that are too abrasive because you can remove a thin layer of treated/hardened (something like that) metal; if you do, the cylinder is junk. I don't know what the factory would charge to replace it, but I bet it isn't cheap.

If it's a Taurus, I have no idea what issues there may be.

In either case, if you're not sure you've got the full factory information package, call customer service and get a copy sent to you. They'll do it for free -- and the call is probably free.

If it is a Taurus there should be no problem. You can download the manual off of their internet site at www.taurususa.com in the acrobat format. If it S&W, well all I can say is sell the thing. :D
